Description

The Case Worker shows dedication and willingness to work within the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), supporting and carrying out the functions of the model to best serve the population. The Case Worker is expected to have a nonjudgmental approach that focuses on skill building and basic principles of behavior (reinforcement, extinction, blocking and shaping). The Case Worker is required to function as part of a team, committing to modeling pro social behavior and building positive relationships with all residents.


Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all Agency and departmental safety procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification.
  • To support the reunification of children with their family/other caregivers in the community.
  • The worker will provide both an intensive services to families in crisis and planned interventions as part of agreed plans for children.
  • Initiating and maintaining regular contact with families, primarily in their homes.
  • Has a working knowledge of DBT and applies these treatment modalities within the milieu.
  • Keep written records and produce reports, as requested, in accordance with departmental and ACS policies and procedures.
  • Develop links with and utilize the resources of the community.
  • Promote an atmosphere in which parents/caregivers are encouraged to take responsibility for meeting needs of their children.
  • Attend Court as required, involving children and families.
  • Establish a trusting relationship with families.
  • Assist families to improve their skills to optimize the home environment for the child's well-being and safety.
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of The Children’s Village.
  • Interface with therapists working with victims in instances when reunification/clarification is likely
  • Attend agency and community meetings that lend support to residents and families, as necessary.
  • Assist Social Workers in completing initial home assessments.
  • Arrange work schedule for flex- time in order to meet the needs of families.
  • Complete progress notes and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform other Case Work and client support functions throughout the agency, as assigned, including court on cases related to their work.
  • Participate in FTC/SPR’s or other conferences, as schedule permits or assigned.
  • Carry out case planning and case work responsibilities for RTF and other suspended payment cases.
  • Provide monthly documentation of progress and plans for discharge of cases as well as Court Reports and FASP’s.
  • Regular preparedness and participation in Supervision.
 
Position Qualifications:
  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or a New York State registered four year college or university
  • Prior relevant experience in social service, mental health or child welfare field preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license
  •  Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred (Able to read, write, converse, and interpret)
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
  • Open availability including weekends and holidays.
