JOB SUMMARY

Code.org is looking for a Professional Learning Specialist to join our Education Programs team. Our Professional Learning Programs specialize in preparing teachers with little to no computer science experience and consist of in-person or virtual workshops, led by a national network of 600+ Code.org-trained facilitators. As Professional Learning Specialist, you will design, update, and maintain the workshop experience for thousands of educators. This is a full time, exempt position. 

In this role you will: 

• Design, update, and maintain workshop agendas and materials to support teachers in alignment with Code.org’s Professional Learning Values.
• Develop materials and training to prepare 600+ facilitators to successfully deliver professional learning experiences for teachers. .
• Seek and maintain curriculum expertise in the current and upcoming versions of Code.org’s courses. 
• Collaborate with the Curriculum team on course overview material for teachers.
• Analyze, triage, and follow-up when necessary on teacher and facilitator-impacting issues identified from workshop survey results or feedback from teachers and facilitators.
• Monitor and engage in the Code.org facilitator online community and forums.
• Partner extensively with other members of the Education Programs team, including curriculum developers, the facilitator support team, evaluation team, and Program Managers.
• As needed: co-facilitate in-person workshops for the Facilitator Development Program

Note: This role requires travel to approximately 3-4 facilitator development events (often on weekends), multiple teacher professional learning events during the summer, and quarterly travel to the Seattle office, if the employee is not based in Seattle. Depending on location, office hours for facilitators may be held after business hours (ET, CT, or MT). 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• We are looking for a creative and collaborative leader who believes that professional development should be transformative, and has experience designing engaging and actionable experiences for adult learners to help make that happen. In this role you will help teachers gain the knowledge, preparation, and confidence to bring computer science to their classrooms with a commitment to equity and making computer science a topic that anyone can teach. 
• You will be successful in this role if you have:
• Experience designing engaging in-person and virtual professional development or training experiences for adult learners, ideally with alignment to one or more of the Code.org Professional Learning Values
• Led in-person professional development workshops for adult learners in a variety of settings
• Comfort with the foundational concepts of computer science and programming; direct experience teaching or facilitating Code.org’s CS Discoveries or CS Principles courses is preferred.
• Analyzed qualitative and quantitative data to iteratively improve a professional development experience or other related experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathetic approach to problem solving
• Demonstrated cultural competence and experience with conversations and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• The ability to thrive and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field preferred
