PAL: Associate Director of College Counseling

Associate Director of College Counseling

Millbrook's Associate Director of College Counseling will be a team player who counsels students and partners with families to foster a student-driven college process.

He or she also performs the following responsibilities:
  • Teaches a weekly college counseling course to Vth and VIth form students
  • Supports college counselees through the process of researching and developing college lists, scheduling and planning for standardized tests, and preparing all parts of applications
  • Plans and conducts college information programs for students and parents regarding trends in college admissions, financial aid, testing, athletic recruiting, etc.  
  • Represents Millbrook School at conferences, college fairs, college tours, etc. at the local and national level
  • Provides support to underform students, particularly regarding standardized testing and summer programs
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with college admissions officers
  • Understands the complex and ever-changing landscape of all facets of higher education  

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required; the following skills and characteristics are highly recommended:
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with high school students from a wide variety of backgrounds 
  • A genuine understanding of adolescents and a commitment to working with them and supporting them in a developmentally appropriate manner
The Associate Director of College Counseling will be a full-time member of the Millbrook School faculty. The associate will also serve as a member of the residential life team, an athletic coach (or supervisor of equivalent extracurricular offerings), and an advisor to current students.
