Brand Marketing and Communications Fellow

Fellows Program Summary
GlobalGiving is seeking applicants to our Fellows Program to help further our mission and ambitious growth plans. Fellows will have a unique opportunity to learn how a thriving, international NGO operates through practical, hands-on experience with the nuts and bolts of our operations and ample opportunities to explore the broader field of development.
We have fellowship opportunities on six of our teams: Vetting and Grants, Disaster Recovery Network, Program, Operations, Business Partnerships, and Marketing and Communications. You are welcome to apply to multiple fellowships, but please ensure that your application highlights why you would be excellent in that specific role.
The program is a highly selective, full-time service year that will challenge and inspire you, and will require hard work and dedication. You will have the opportunity to explore various areas that interest you, so you can capitalize on your experience. You’ll be a vital contributor to our team—not getting coffee or filing papers all day long.
Here’s a little taste of the kinds of experiences you might have as a GlobalGiving Fellow:
  • Skill-building workshops to improve your understanding of international development, technology startups, social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, disaster response, and crowdfunding.
  • In-depth research and analysis projects around a particular issue area.
  • Training on experimentation, workflow, and querying tools such as Salesforce, Optimizely, MySQL, Metabase, and Zendesk.
  • Career preparation and professional development, including mock interviews and resume review. Previous fellows have used their professional development funds to take coding classes and even learn French!
Brand Marketing and Communications Fellow
Our Marketing and Communications team raises awareness of the GlobalGiving brand and promotes the work of GlobalGiving and our partners. Using email, social media, web and graphic design, and video, we aim to deepen engagement with our donors and our nonprofit and corporate partners. Candidates with superior oral and written communication and project management skills with demonstrated experience using content production to further an organization’s goals are encouraged to apply for the Brand Marketing and Communications Fellow position. We’re looking for someone who not only loves to write, but loves to make others’ writing better. Specifically, the fellow will:
  • Write, proofread, format, and publish content on our website and blogs, including our Learn Library
  • Curate and publish monthly email digests
  • Assist with efforts to improve our SEO and SEM through content development and landing page improvements
  • Help develop content strategies to optimize annual fundraising campaigns, such as the Girl Fund Campaign and Climate Action Fund Campaign
  • Write reports to communicate impact of donations to donors
  • Develop and execute creative content experiments to enhance brand awareness and affinity
  • Help develop and execute content and site tests to increase email subscribers
  • Analyze content performance to inform future strategies
  • Help grow earned media by developing newsworthy stories and assisting with media outreach
Skills
  • Experience using WordPress or similar CMS systems
  • MailChimp or email marketing experience
  • Experience and comfort editing HTML and CSS
  • Prior experience or willingness to learn SEO and Google Analytics
  • Knowledge of AP Style

Duration
The Fellows Program is a full-time work commitment that will begin July 7, 2020, and run through July 30, 2021.

Benefits

A salary of $37,600, paid semi-monthly, will be offered over the course of the 13-month program. This is a nonexempt, 40 hour a week position. Our benefits package includes health and dental insurance, educational assistance,15 days of paid time off, professional development funds (up to $500 over the course of the program), access to our marketplace of discounts with companies, 401K matching and commuter benefits.
