PAL: Summer 2020 - Marketing Assistant Intern
The Saratoga Farmers’ Market is looking for a motivated undergraduate student to assist the Market Manager with marketing activities. This summer internship will allow the student to learn more about what goes into maintaining and growing a local non-profit and get an in-depth look at small, sustainable business operations.
Tasks:
- Run market promotions on social media platforms; brainstorm new formats and platforms on which to advertise to increase customer engagement
- Spearhead new market collaborations with community organizations and partners
- Work on promotional materials, including weekly newsletter, design materials (print and digital), newspaper articles, press releases, etc.
- Aid in data collection and analysis to better serve customer base and attract new customers
- Work 1-2 markets per week: assist Market Manager with set up and breakdown of market, support vendors, staff the market information table, and assist with special events
Student interests: Sustainability; local food systems; business; advertising; public relations
Dates: This internship lasts approximately 2.5 months from early June - mid August; will work with students around availability.
Time: 10 hours a week. This includes every Saturday market (8:30am - 1:30pm) and every other Wednesday market (2:30pm - 6:30pm). The rest of the hours are worked off-site.
Compensation: $20/hr per Saturday market worked; $15/hr per Wednesday market worked; will work with student to earn academic credit.
