Fully Funded Fall 2020 Fellowship in Boston through the College of Social Innovation

DESCRIPTION:
Semester in the City through the College of Social Innovation is available for a pell-eligible Skidmore student to receive a semester long fully funded internship in the Boston area during the fall 2020 semester. If selected, the student would receive funding and all expenses paid to pursue an internship in their field of interest through the generosity of a Skidmore donor.

This exciting NEW PILOT PARTNERSHIP with Skidmore College allows students to join as Social Innovation Fellows and participate in a transformative 15-week program that allows them to develop essential skills and networks that prepare them for life and work after graduation. Fall semester begins generally on Labor Day and ends the first full week in December. Spring semester begins on Martin Luther King Day and ends the first full week of May. Only fall applications are being taken at this time.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR FUNDING:
This opportunity is available for two pell-eligible Skidmore students during the 2020-2021 academic year. A generous donor has offered to cover 100% of tuition and housing for Semester in the City for these 2 semesters (one fall 2020 fellowship/one spring 2021 fellowship).

FULL TUITION PROGRAM (no funding available):
Opportunities are also available for students that do not meet the financial requirements. Full tuition for the program is in the amount of $13,052.50 which includes a double room – but other discounts are available! Please contact Ilona Drew at ilona.drew@collegeforsocialinnovation.org.

COURSEWORK:
In addition, As a Social Innovation Fellow, students will also take two courses, taught by the College for Social Innovation staff.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM:
Students completing the program will receive 16 general elective transfer credits from the University of New Hampshire as part of the agreement, which can be applied as free elective credits towards graduation (credits cannot be counted as major or minor credits). In order to receive credit, the student must achieve a grade of C or higher. Student transcripts will come from UNH; once the students are enrolled in the program, UNH will register them and send them login to their UNH student accounts, which is how students will access their credits. Student participants will be required to take a Leave of Absence from Skidmore for the semester, so be sure to take this into consideration when applying. Students will be unable to receive financial aid during the semester while they are doing the program.

Breakdown of Credits:
SITC Internship: 8 credits at the 300-level (non-liberal arts)
Becoming a Problem Solver: 4 credits (non-liberal arts)
Social Innovator’s Tool Box: 4 credits (non-liberal arts)
