NYC-SRD- Tax Accountant I - Indirect Tax

Overview

Tiffany & Co. is seeking an Accountant I-Indirect Tax based out of our Parsippany, NJ offices. The Accountant I-Indirect Tax is responsible for preparation and review of indirect tax compliance, audit support, and financial reporting for U.S. and Canadian tax obligations as assigned. They support maintenance of indirect tax engines ensuring accurate collection, computation and reporting of non-income tax obligations, provide planning and research of tax laws and current issues, as they may relate to the non-income tax requirements generated by Company activities. This position will also support business units via operational support as well as system development support.



Responsibilities

The Accountant I-Indirect Tax will be responsible for the preparation and review of indirect tax compliance including Sales and Use Tax, Canadian GST/HST, Personal Property Tax, Business Licenses. They will also be responsible for Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of filings, as well as maintenance of all necessary supporting documentation and tax calendar. The role will also work on preparation of use tax self-assessment for various company expenditures. This includes review of relevant regulations and calculations and accounting for tax. They will ensure completeness and maintenance of the necessary supporting documentation, maintain indirect tax engines ensuring completeness and accuracy if collection, computation and reporting of indirect tax obligations.
 
The Accountant I will also assist management in compiling audit support to be provided to State and Local jurisdictions, Canadian tax authorities and external auditors, respond to notices and inquiries from taxing authorities for routine sales tax matters, and conduct research of U.S. and Canadian indirect (sales/ use, GST/HST, personal property tax, real property tax, business licenses) tax regulations with respect to the impact on the business. Lastly, this role will provide technical advice and support to business partners with respect to indirect tax inquiries, prepare and support special projects and UAT testing efforts, and asist in company budgeting process including account reconciliation and supporting variations.



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 0 – 2 years of job-related experience
• Proficient in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of products
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to multi task and collaborate with others
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when necessary
• Experience with Vertex Software Applications preferred
• Experience with JD Edwards preferred
• Retail Experience preferred
