NYC-SRD-Summer Internship

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes nine primary care sites, 33 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation’s largest dental residency program, and New York State’s largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs.

Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
In this role, the successful candidate Provide program support to not for profit agencies in local community, as well as for Lutheran Family Health Centers community programs

Job Responsibilities:
  • Answer phones
  • Greet program participants and help orient them to programs
  • Assist staff in implementing educational and creative activities with program participants
  • Conduct administrative duties such as copying, filing, and inputting data to support programs.
  • Assist program staff in preparing and maintaining needed supplies
  • Demonstrate cultural competence with diverse clients, staff, and visitors

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Some high school, but diploma not required
Able to work independently
Effective telephone and in-person communication skills
Previous experience volunteering or interning preferred
Ability to work and interact with culturally diverse populations
As required by funder of internship, must be between ages of 16 and 24
Good interpersonal skills and positive work ethic

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
