NYC-SRD-Report Production Analyst

MDRC is seeking a Report Production Analyst to play an active role in preparing reports for our Kindergarten through Grade 12 (K-12) and Postsecondary Education (PSE) policy areas, and to take the lead in training and supporting staff across the organization on the use of report production tools and best practices in report production.

This position will be split within MDRC’s Policy Research Evaluation Department, reporting half time to the K-12 and PSE policy areas and half time to the Research Technology Unit.

MDRC is seeking candidates with strong organizational skills, experience with Microsoft Office Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint, and a sharp eye for detail to play a pivotal role in the creation of research reports and other publications. The Report Production Analyst will have the unusual opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on current education and social policy issues.

Responsibilities
• Active involvement in various stages of producing reports, proposals, briefs, and papers — coordinating across authors, analysts, and Publications staff; fact-checking; proofreading; creating tables and figures for visual presentation of complex data; and preparing source documentation.
• Helping the policy area managers with general project management, including developing and maintaining project files, arranging meetings with external research partners and funders, and handling correspondence.
• Updating and developing training materials to incorporate new technologies and process improvements into our report production processes.
• Collaborating with the Publications Department, report production leads, and researchers to understand training and support needs in this area.
• Teaching classes and providing mentoring and support to new research assistants as they learn the MDRC report production process.

Qualifications
• Savvy with Microsoft Office products – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio. Experience with SharePoint and Adobe products is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask and meet competing deadlines.
• Experience designing engaging graphics is a plus.
• Strong presentation skills — presents training materials clearly, engages participants, and prepares accompanying material that is informative and concise.
• Continuous learner — able to effectively use resources to independently find solutions, continually adding to technical knowledge as software changes.
• Research experience — experience on an MDRC project or with a similar research organization is a plus.
• BA/BS degree or higher.

The Report Production Analyst position is based in MDRC’s New York office. Some on-the-job training is provided.
