Universal Preservation Hall Non-Profit Management Internship Fall 2019

Universal Preservation Hall is the Performing Arts Education and Entertainment venue for Saratoga Springs, NY. The restoration of the Saratoga Springs Universal Preservation Hall has been a true community project. The 501(c)(3) organization, Universal Preservation Hall (UPH), is working to transform this historic building; generate commerce for downtown and surrounding businesses through street traffic, patronage of restaurants and shops as the theater goers head to concerts of all types, wedding receptions, lectures, dance performances, theater productions, film festivals and film series, corporate meetings, art gallery events, etc. 

Internships are designed for undergraduate or graduate students to have an in-depth experience of working in a not-for-profit theatre company. Training can be supplemented with discussions and workshops with directors, designers and senior staff members, of the partner companies Proctors and Capital Repertory Theatre, who provide insight into the overall management of the company. Interns’ relationships with their supervisor ensure that they are not only gaining valuable skills but also receiving support and feedback. Internships can be full-time or part-time Monday-Friday with occasional nights and weekends (12-20 hours per week). They take place year-round in the spring, summer or fall semesters. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. All internships are unpaid.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, participating in planning and executing of major fundraising events, maintenance of website and databases, and donor relations. Ideal candidates will be working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree, have course work in marketing or communications, possess basic computer skills, be detail-oriented, can multi-task, and meet deadlines.
