MISSION AND GOALS:
SARATOGA UNITES, INC. is a newly formed not-for-profit political action organization based in Saratoga Springs. We are a community-based organization dedicated to uniting groups and individuals to uphold democratic values and advocate for equal rights, equal opportunity and a healthy environment with focus on cooperative, non-violent solutions.
ISSUES TO WORK ON:
Civil Rights, Education, Environmental Rights, Gun Violence, Health Care, LGBTQ Rights, Voting Rights and Women’s Human Rights (including reproductive rights, sexual violence, equal pay, discrimination). You will not only research and write memorandum, but participate in lobbying, grass roots organizing, community education programs, event organizing and issue development and advocacy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All students are invited to apply. Government, business, education, computer science, environmental studies and women’s studies majors/minors and all who are inspired by a passion to improve our political system and advance the rights of all are encouraged to apply.
SCHEDULE:
Internships are available each academic semester.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
Two-four unpaid Research Assistant/Activist positions are available each semester. Individuals must possess an interest in state and national issues as described above. Candidates must be a junior or senior and possess exceptional research, writing, computer and communication skills. We are also looking for an individual who possesses computer skills who can maintain a webpage. Individuals should work with their advisor to arrange 3-6 credit hours for a ten-twenty hour work week.
