Paid Art Teaching Internship to Individuals with Special Needs- Spring 2019
Making a difference in the lives of others is one of the most rewarding things about working with the people Saratoga Bridges supports.
As part of their Creative Endeavors Arts Center program, Saratoga Bridges is seeking Skidmore art teaching interns to run classes for artists with disabilities. Creative Endeavors offers enhanced creative experiences for individuals who attend the organization's Day and Community Opportunities sites. For some, it will be the first time in their lives they will be engaging in creative classes.
All majors and class years can apply for the internship, but applicants should have experience in the arts. Knowledge of photography, fiber arts, printmaking and ceramics is preferred, but expertise in all media will be considered. Applicants should have a passion for teaching art. Candidates who have experience working with individuals with special needs is a plus.
Interns must be able to get to the Creative Endeavors site, located at 49 Front Street in Ballston Spa, to teach classes. Candidates will need access to a personal vehicle or there is a bus from Skidmore to the Creative Endeavors.
Interns will be paid $25/an hour per class. Saratoga Bridges has some flexibility as to when they can arrange classes. Interns must commit to teaching one class per week throughout the Spring 2019 semester.
To be considered, applicants must submit a resume, cover letter explaining why they are a good match and a sample of artwork.
